Frequently asked questions
Answers to what people ask us most. If yours isn't here, just write to us.
Before booking
Is breakfast included?
No — MoreBnB Salento is a self-catering holiday home (casa vacanze), not a B&B. The apartment has a fully equipped kitchenette (fridge, hob, microwave, coffee machine) so you can make breakfast and meals however you like. Bakeries and cafés for a coffee and croissant are a few steps away.
Can I book a single night?
No — the minimum stay is two nights, all year round.
Is the apartment accessible?
The apartment is in the historic centre and may have a step or two; it isn't legally certified 'accessible'. Write to us before booking and we'll describe the access in detail.
Do you accept pets?
Unfortunately no — we can't accept pets in the apartment.
How many people can it sleep?
Up to 4: a double bed and a sofa bed (2 adults + 2 children, or a couple with extra room). It's a studio, ideal for a couple or a small family.
Can I book for a group or private event?
The apartment holds up to 4 people, so it isn't suited to large groups or events. For a couple or a small family it's perfect.
Arrival & check-in
What time is check-in?
Check-in 15:00 to 19:00. Check-out by 11:00. If you arrive earlier or later, message us on WhatsApp and we'll sort it — usually no problem.
How do I get there from Brindisi or Lecce?
From Brindisi (BDS) it's about 60 minutes by car; from Lecce, about 30 minutes. We recommend a car — public transport is inconvenient. If you prefer, we can arrange a private transfer.
Is there parking?
Yes, free, on the property.
Can I drop my bags before check-in?
Always. Drop your bags on arrival and head out for the beach or whatever you have planned. We'll bring them up to your room as soon as it's ready.
What do I need at check-in?
An ID document for each guest (children included) — it's a legal requirement. EU IDs and passports are both fine.
During your stay
Does the Wi-Fi work well?
Yes, fibre in the apartment. It handles work calls and streaming. If anything fails we'll get you reconnected in two minutes.
Is air conditioning included?
Yes, throughout the apartment, electricity included in the price. We just ask that you don't run it with the windows wide open.
Is there a shared kitchen?
No — being a self-contained apartment, you have a fully equipped kitchenette all to yourself (fridge, hob, microwave, coffee machine). For a meal together, there's our home dinner on request.
Can I smoke?
No smoking inside the apartment — out of respect for the next guests. The terrace and garden are fine; please use one of the ashtrays.
Is the apartment cleaned daily?
Towels swapped on request, sheets every four nights — sooner if you ask. Daily cleaning happens at check-out, or whenever you ask us to.
Payment & cancellations
Can I cancel?
Yes — up to 7 days before arrival, no fee. From 7 to 2 days before, we keep 50%. In the last 48 hours, full amount. If something serious happens, talk to us — we're people.
When am I charged?
A 50% deposit on booking; the balance on arrival.
Do I pay a tourist tax?
No — the Municipality of Poggiardo does not currently apply a tourist tax, so there is no city tax to pay.
What payment methods do you accept?
Bank transfer, PayPal and cash. The deposit is paid by bank transfer or PayPal; the balance on arrival, cash accepted.
Services & area
How far are the beaches?
The closest are about 10 minutes by car: Castro (marina and rocks) and Cala dell'Acquaviva. A little further, about 15 minutes: Porto Badisco (small, quiet), Santa Cesarea Terme (clear water) and Otranto (more lively). The famous Baia dei Turchi is 25 minutes away.
Do you host dinners?
Yes, on request — any evening, subject to availability. Five courses of Salento family cooking, wine included, from €45 per person. Maximum 8 guests — write to us to arrange the date.
Do you recommend restaurants?
We have a hand-written map in your room with the places we actually go: three honest trattorias, a pizza-by-the-slice place for evenings, two for fish. We share the names in person — we'd rather not put them online.
Do you rent bikes?
Yes, on request — we can provide bikes. Just let us know when you book or on arrival.
What is there to do in the area when it rains?
Otranto under a grey sky is beautiful (try it). The Lecce museum, the Castellana caves, Acaya castle. If it really pours, we have books, vinyl, and a kitchen that always smells of something.
